Hokkaido, Japan- On December 22, BYD and the three-time Japanese Series winners the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters (“Fighters”) jointly announced a strategic partnership agreement on transportation for the Hokkaido Ballpark F Village (“F Village”), which is slated to be opened in 2023. By 2023, F Village will also build a brand new baseball stadium known as “ES CON Field Hokkaido”, which will also be the main training ground for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, a leading team in the Nippon Professional Baseball Pacific League.
BYD to provide F Village with green transport solutions
Under the agreement, BYD will provide a range of emissions-free products, including pure electric buses, forklifts, and more. Among them, pure electric buses will be used for ferrying tourists and players around the village. To this end, F Village will also build supporting charging piles to ensure clean and quiet travel in the park.

Our vision is ‘to simultaneously achieve convenience and environmental protection for the future’. And based on this partnership, we are committed to proposing new lifestyles in Hokkaido and working towards the realization of an ideal society.”
Building a “ballpark the world has never seen before”
The F Village will cover an area of more than 32 hectares. In addition to hosting baseball games, the business districts, accommodation facilities, and activities surrounding the park are forecast to attract about 3 million visitors every year once opened. Also, the active international cooperation between Fighters, BYD and other international companies to build an eco-friendly space is likely to attract more global tourists. As well as sports events, lifestyle and leisure, F Village will also play a role as a key evacuation and settlement location for the local community in case of any emergency.
Speaking about the new agreement, Koji Kawamura, President of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, said: “We are very pleased that the conclusion of this partnership will be the start of new value creation for our company in seeking for a sustainable society in Hokkaido. By this partnership with BYD, a leading new-energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer in the world, we are confident that a new way of thinking in the field of mobility will be advocated and spread across the country starting from our ballpark.
